Steel vs Aluminium

Here at Duralloy Truck Bodies we aim to provide a tray that serves its purpose in more then one way. To use a material that will serve its purpose as well now as it will in the future. To ensure this we build in aluminium over against steel. Knowing that steel does hold its functions, we don’t discredit it, however when weighing up the differences this is what we came up with.

  1. Lightweight: Aluminium is significantly lighter than steel. It has a density about one-third that of steel, making it an excellent choice when the weight question comes down to a fine line, this is especially so in vehicles. Where lighter vehicles can lead to improved fuel efficiency and increased payload capacity.
  2. Corrosion resistance: Aluminium has a natural ability to form a protective oxide layer when exposed to air, which helps prevent corrosion. This resistance makes it suitable for applications in many different environments that you may take your vehicle.
  3. Formability and versatility: Because aluminium is highly malleable and can be easily formed into various shapes, it allows us as the manufactures to design and fabricate our products into complex designs. Because of this reason, Duralloy Truck Bodies has been able to create, and engineer certify our extrusions to take load capacities up to 2100kg per pallet space! *
  4. Recyclability: Aluminium is highly recyclable and can be reused repeatedly without losing its properties. Recycling aluminium requires only a fraction of the energy needed to produce primary aluminium from raw materials, making it an environmentally friendly choice. Steel is also recyclable but typically requires more energy for the recycling process.
  5. Aesthetics: Aluminium’s natural appearance and ability to be anodized or coated in different colours provide aesthetic advantages over steel. Its important to us that your tray looks its best for the longest time possible.

Again, we don’t discredit steel, however when it comes to your transport and working lifestyle somethings just make more sense to go with!
